Marketplace

Experience a diverse marketplace featuring fresh herbs, artisanal products, and herbal delights. Discover unique wares for the home, garden, and table, along with herb-infused gourmet foods.

Educational Workshops

Engage in a full day of demonstrations and hands-on workshops led by experts. Learn about herbs' versatility and their potential for enhancing health and creativity. 

Lovage Soup

Enjoy the Herb Fair’s signature Lovage Soup served with focaccia from LMNOP Bakery. The savory soup is made with potatoes, leeks and broth and flavored with lovage, an aromatic herb resembling celery but stronger and sweeter.

Herb Table

Take in the bountiful Herb Table, expertly curated and featuring a selection of dried and fresh cut herbs including fragrant handmade items such as sachets, lavender wands and wreaths. 

Enriching Activities

Delight in family-friendly activities, including a children's "Paint a Terracotta Pot" session hosted by the Rye Arts Center, a community-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire interest in the arts.

Herbal Lunch

A boxed lunch provided by LMNOP Bakery, including a delicious focaccia sandwich, salad and cookies, is available for pre-order. Scroll to bottom to pre-order. Limited quantities available!

Garden Oasis

Immerse yourself in the enchanting Herb Garden, featuring specially cultivated sections such as culinary, medicinal, fragrance, and more. Stroll through this 17th-century English knot styled garden created by garden designer and author Page Dickey.

Free Demonstrations & Workshops

Join us for an extensive program of demonstrations and workshops educating our guests on the many ways of using herbs. In the main tent there will be free demonstrations every hour from experts in their fields.

Rye Arts Center, Activity for Kids

Paint a Terracotta Pot

The Rye Arts Center, a community-based not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to inspire interest and maximum participation in the arts in Westchester and the surrounding region, is offering a “Come and Paint a Terracotta Pot” children activity for all ages.  Children will be guided by RAC instructor Ann Ladd to explore their creativity and decorate their very own pot to take home.

Chynna Dee's energy and passion are contagious. She is an Holistic nurse and yoga practitioner. During her travels she was introduced to her first cup of ceremonial grade cacao. This started her journey of exploration into this powerful traditional use of cacao.

Herbs for the Winter Months

Cathy Gilbertie Knipper from Gilbertie’s Organics retail garden center and wholesale herb farm will speak on harvesting, storing, and crafting herbs to enhance your home during the colder months. A Q&A period will allow participants to address the individual needs and concerns of their gardens and plants. Gilbertie’s Organics is a Connecticut-based 101-year-old family business growing USDA certified organic herbs and vegetable plants.

Eco-printing on Fabric

Maggie, the designer behind Nade, is well known in the community for having delivered an exhilarating talk last May on natural dyes. She will demonstrate the beautiful technique of eco-printing, transferring the imprint of flowers and leaves onto fabric.

The Cozy Tea Cart

Cooking with Tea

Danielle Beaudette is a Certified Tea Specialist (STI) and has traveled extensively throughout the tea countries in Asia. Her passion for tea is contagious and she has created a community of tea lovers in Brookline New Hampshire with her high quality teas at her store The Cozy Tea Cart. This year she will create a special blend around the herb of the year Ginger. She will also demonstrate how to cook with tea, a personal passion of hers.

Artist

Herbal Work on Paper

Julia Whitney Barnes is an accomplished and awarded artist whose work is in many collections and galleries. She has collected over 150 herb specimens for her herbarium at the Shaker Heritage Society. She uses them for a series of works on paper and canvas. Her medium is the cyanotype process that she will demonstrate.

LMNOP Bakery

Baking with Herbs

Anne Mayhew, is the baker and owner behind LMNOP bakery, a widely successful bakery in Katonah that uses locally sourced grain. Last year Anne made focaccia with thyme from the herb garden which was a great addition to the Fair’s traditional lovage soup. This year Anne will talk about adding flavor to her bakes with herbs in an informal questions and answers setting.

Paid Workshop Registration

The following workshops will be held in the John Jay Homestead Potting Shed adjacent to the Herb Garden and require pre-online registration. The classes are very limited (15) and available on a first come basis.

They are one hour long and cost $125 each which will include all materials.
